Female Atypical Chest Pain - Level 3
Assess female patient with atypical chest pain who just presented to ED; recognize need to implement ED STEMI protocol including obtaining and interpreting ECG, starting IV, interpreting labs and titrating administering Nitroglycerin PO/IV and Heparin IV with math calculation. New orders received from cardiologist to prepare to cardiac cath with recognition that renal protection required.
1. Administer cardiac system related medications safely
2. Interpret a basic ECG pattern and cardiac-related lab results
3. Prioritize nursing care for a female patient with new onset chest pain
4. Incorporate evidence-based practice while caring for a patient with emergent coronary
artery disease requiring cardiac catheterization
5. Communicate therapeutically with a patient experiencing an acute health care crisis
6. Report complete, accurate and pertinent information to the health care team
