Kim LaPlante

Kim is the Manager of Research and Library Services at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, where she has been a long-standing champion for open education, textbook affordability, and equitable access to information. She has led NWTC’s open education initiatives for many years, guiding the creation and publication of more than 45 open textbooks on the LibreTexts platform and providing training and mentorship to faculty and other librarians throughout the state.

With over 25 years of leadership experience at NWTC, Kim has directed the library and research teams through significant growth, innovation, and service expansion. She holds a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Philosophy from St. Norbert College.
