Bio
Dr. Kirsten Moffler-Daykin is a proud OER advocate! She serves as the Learning Commons Manager at Western Technical College, leading library services, OER, copyright compliance, academic support centers, the peer tutoring program, and community outreach and partnerships. She and her team foster a creative, collaborative, and safe learning environment at an open-access college. Her role involves direct engagement with students and designing, leading, and evaluating programs. She serves on steering teams for: WisPALS Executive Committee, WTCS Tutoring Centers, Open Western OER, Intertribal Council, Diversity Advocacy, AI Core Council, ADA Title II, and Trauma-informed Care. She is also the sitting chair for Inclusive Services for WLA. A passionate educator and leader, Kirsten is deeply committed to building relationships, advocating for accessibility and social justice in education, employing trauma-informed practices, and respecting the power of storytelling. In 2021, she earned her Doctorate in Curriculum, Teaching, Learning, and Leadership from Northeastern University in Boston, where she researched adult survivors of childhood trauma and effective neuropsychological learning interventions. She also holds an M.Ed. in Secondary Literacy from Salem State University, an MA in English from the University of Maine, a BA in English with Political Science from Purdue University, and a TESOL certification.
When not at work, Kirsten enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, playing Euchre, and learning to weave. She can also be seen in oodles of parades and volunteering throughout the year as part of the La Crosse Oktoberfest Grenadier Corps.
