Children with Differing Abilities explores inclusive early childhood practices for supporting children from birth through age eight with a wide range of developmental differences and abilities. Topics include diversity, equity and inclusion, inclusive program design, legal and ethical requirements such as ADA and IDEA, referral and evaluation processes, IFSPs and IEPs, physical, cognitive, health, communication, behavioral and emotional differences, neurodiversity, accommodations and modifications, and individualized curriculum adaptations. Designed for future early childhood educators and childcare professionals, this book emphasizes strength-based practices, advocacy, family partnerships, community resources, and the creation of responsive learning environments in which all children can participate and learn.
