Why Wisc-Online Moved to WisTech Open

In January 2026, Wisc-Online transitioned to WisTech Open to better align with current educational standards and long-term goals. During this process, the catalog was reviewed and content that did not meet accessibility requirements or was outdated was removed. Games were also taken down, and the team is evaluating the possibility of adding them back in the future with accessibility and quality standards in mind.

Wisc-Online has supported millions of learners for over 20 years. It was time for a refresh! By moving to WisTech Open, we were able to continue offering free, high-quality learning resources on a more modern, sustainable platform.

The Play Games Arcade went offline at the time Wisc-Online moved to WisTech Open.
Do saved links or bookmarks still work?
No, bookmarks to the old site stopped working after December 2025.
What happened to Wisc-Online objects that were downloaded into LMS platforms?

If instructors had downloaded and embedded Wisc-Online objects (like SCORM packages) into their LMS, those continued to work even after the Wisc-Online site transitioned to WisTech Open. These objects were self-contained and did not rely on the live site.

Is there an opportunity to develop new content?

Yes. Ideas for new content could be shared at https://www.wistechopen.org/contact by selecting “Pitch a Project Idea.” All project ideas are considered based on available funding.
