Learning Objects

Engineering

Dive into Wisc-Online’s rich collection of learning objects — bite-sized, interactive, and designed for real learning. These modular digital tools include animations, drag-and-drop exercises, quizzes, videos, and more. You can explore topics across STEM, arts, humanities, career skills, and beyond. Each learning object is crafted to help learners actively engage with content—reviewing, applying, self-checking—in a way that’s flexible and self-paced.

Why Wisc-Online Moved to WisTech Open

In January 2026, Wisc-Online transitioned to WisTech Open to better align with current educational standards and long-term goals. During this process, the catalog was reviewed and content that did not meet accessibility requirements or was outdated was removed. Games were also taken down, and the team is evaluating the possibility of adding them back in the future with accessibility and quality standards in mind.

Learning Object
Hydraulic Cylinder Speed (Screencast)
In this screencast, learners examine why the piston of a hydraulic cylinder extends slower than it retracts. A brief quiz completes the activity.
Hydrostatic Pressure (Screencast)
In this animated object, learners read about hydrostatic pressure and observe how it is used to measure the level of a material in a container.
Ideal Gas Law
In this interactive object, learners use the ideal gas law to solve a practice problem.
Identifying Compounds and Ions
Learners complete an exercise to match chemical formulas with the names of binary compounds, tertiary compounds, and ions.
Identifying Engineering Notation
The learner will represent very large and very small numbers in engineering notation.
Identifying Lever Classes
In this interactive object, learners read an introduction to Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3 levers and then take a quiz.

Identifying the Number of Significant Digits
Learners will identify the number of significant digits in practice problems.
Indirect Measurement
In this learning activity you'll review a visual overview of indirect measurement.
Indirect Measurement Instruments
The learner will define indirect measurement, identify common indirect measuring tools, and select the proper measuring tool for the situation.
Inductive Proximity Sensors (Screencast)
Learners examine the operation of an inductive proximity sensor in this animated object. A brief quiz completes the activity.
